Our co-curricular offer is the heartbeat of the school and we hope that parents will join us in encouraging students to get involved in whichever club or activity appeals. It is never too late to try something new and staff are always keen to hear from the students themselves about starting up new clubs and ventures.

Our students thrive in a school where curiosity is celebrated, individuality is championed, and opportunities to explore are woven into the fabric of daily life.

What makes our co-curricular programme special?

With over 200 weekly clubs, there is truly something for everyone, and for many, the co-curricular programme is where they find their thing.

Whether your child is a budding musician, an aspiring engineer, a sports enthusiast, a future journalist or just keen to try something new, they will find space to grow, lead and shine here.

  • It's Vast: From robotics to photography to philosophy, debating to Dungeons & Dragons, the choice is as diverse as our students.
  • It's Inclusive: No experience needed. Students are encouraged to get involved at any level and to try things just for fun.
  • It's Student-Led: Many of our most popular clubs have been launched by students themselves. We love to hear new ideas!
  • It's Character-Building: Whether navigating the Brecon Beacons on DofE or leading a Model United Nations debate, these are the experiences that build confidence, resilience and lifelong friendships.

Why it matters

Co-curricular life is a big part of what helps RGS students feel they belong, develop confidence, and build skills that prepare them for life beyond school. Whether it is through teamwork on the pitch, leadership in a committee, or creative expression on stage, these experiences stay with them for life.

Happy, Confident Students

We believe that every student should have the chance to be happy, discover their passions and contribute to something bigger than themselves.

Exam results will help to open doors of opportunity but the character and confidence developed, for example, on the sports field, in the Model United Nations or through performing on stage are essential to allow those opportunities to be maximised.

Education is more than lessons, at RGS it is about creating opportunities that inspire curiosity, build confidence, and spark lifelong passions. Through challenge, adventure, and shared experience, students discover who they are and what they can become.
