Starting well. Feeling at home. Thriving from day one.

That is why we have a carefully designed transition programme, including a charity treasure hunt, a Second Form buddy, First Form party, a Sixth Form mentor, and plenty of opportunities to settle in before lessons even begin. There is no homework in the first few weeks, and during that time subjects are introduced gradually, allowing space for new routines, trying out clubs and encouraging friendships to form naturally. Lunches are spent together in tutor groups ahead of the whole school, and every student quickly finds their place in the RGS family.

It really feels like one big family.

— Ella, First Form RGS Student

Caring Every Day

Every child is in the care of an experienced Form Tutor, who sees them daily and also teaches them for at least one subject. Alongside them, the Head of Year, Head of Lower School and the pastoral team, all work closely with students and families to make sure everyone feels informed, supported and reassured.

But support does not stop there. RGS is a school that genuinely cares. With a dedicated Wellbeing Team, access to counselling, mindfulness sessions, and proactive pastoral care, every student has somewhere to turn if they need help. Our SEND team ensures tailored support for students who need it, and our commitment to kindness runs through everything we do - from Wellbeing Week and the Kindness Festival to everyday interactions in the corridors.

Joy in Every Day

Above all, we want our students to be happy. Friendships are at the heart of school life, and the sense of fun is unmistakable - whether it is an ice rink in the playground, a surprise doughnut day, house singing competition or an adventure at Go Ape. RGS is a place where young people can thrive, knowing they are valued and supported every step of the way.

I have grown as a person, made lifelong friends, and learned so many new things.

— Sasha, Sixth Form RGS Student
