Community engagement is central to school life at Reigate Grammar School, and our students are encouraged to be active, thoughtful citizens of the world.
Through our growing outreach and partnerships programme, every Reigatian has the chance to make a difference. In fact, every single student is a volunteer, whether through structured opportunities in the curriculum or by championing causes close to their heart. It is part of our DNA.
A School with a Moral Purpose
RGS is proud to be a school with a moral purpose. Our ever-expanding outreach programme includes:
- Educational partnerships with local state schools offering reading support, enrichment events, sports festivals and mentoring.
- Community volunteering at care homes, food banks, and local charities like Stripey Stork and The Giant Pledge.
- Environmental action, including our pledge to plant 3,500 trees locally and leading the Local Schools Greener World Council.
- Inclusive performances and workshops in music, drama and sport, delivered in partnership with community organisations.
- Collaborations with special schools like Woodfield and the Orpheus Centre, sharing resources, fundraising and creating joy.
Embedded in School Life
Our Years 9 and 10 curriculum includes outreach electives, giving every student the chance to work with younger children, support the elderly, or champion a cause. Sixth Form students lead initiatives, run events, and lend their voices and skills to charities across the region.
Our entire school community contributes: students, parents, staff and former Reigatians. Each year, RGS students give over 15,000 hours of volunteer time, from local projects to national campaigns.

A Global Outlook, A Local Impact
Our outreach efforts are both ambitious and heartfelt. From providing swimming lessons for thousands of local children to launching a new reading club for primary schools, we are proud of the way our students step up to lead, support and inspire.
We are also committed to access and opportunity. Through our Changing Lives, Building Futures campaign, we’re aiming to double our bursary provision so that more young people regardless of background can benefit from a world-class RGS education.
Why It Matters
Our commitment to outreach means your child won't just do well here, they will learn how to do good too.
They will grow into thoughtful, engaged young people, ready to lead, to contribute, and to understand the world from a broader perspective. Because at RGS, becoming part of our school also means becoming part of something bigger.
