Shaun Fenton: Biography

Inspired by the life-changing education he received, Shaun Fenton has spent years in leadership roles at some of the UK’s leading independent and state schools.

His experience in top 10 senior schools and turned-around state schools has been underpinned by a strong belief in the power of education to open doors of opportunity. Fundamental to Shaun’s approach to education is the conviction that young people must be supported with the very best of pastoral care to enable them to embrace and achieve academic and extra-curricular success.

Shaun Fenton has been Headmaster of Reigate Grammar School since September 2012, his third headship having previously led Pate’s Grammar School, Cheltenham (named Sunday Times ‘School of the Year’ under his leadership) and Sir John Lawes School, Hertfordshire. Shaun was an additional member of the Headmaster and Headmistresses’ Conference (HMC) since 2005 and a full member from 2012.

Shaun was educated at Haberdashers’ Aske’s School and Keble College, Oxford where he obtained an MA in Philosophy, Politics and Economics. After roles in the commercial world, he returned to Oxford University in 1993 to complete his PGCE and gained the degree of Master of Education in School Leadership.
