This spring’s annual concert was hosted at Battersea Arts Centre and was a powerful celebration of what it means to belong to a thriving musical community.

Inspired by the extraordinary story of the venue’s renewal following a devastating fire in 2016, this concert reflected the breadth, ambition and shared purpose of music-making across Reigate Grammar School.

Performers of all ages and stages were united by a love of music and a commitment to working together to create something meaningful and uplifting. Particularly moving was a performance by the newest addition to our Music Partnership programme, Brooklands School Signing Choir, in which Junior Girls’ Voices joined them in singing and signing Louis Armstrong’s famous hit What A Wonderful World.

We were proud to see so many ensembles represented, and to welcome Chinthurst Prep School Choir, RSM choristers, and our Parent Choir to sing together with RGS choirs and Symphony Orchestra (including an extended percussion section) in an outstanding performance of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms.

These collaborations lie at the heart of what makes evenings like this so special - a reminder that music has the power to connect schools, families and communities in lasting and joyful ways.

The evening also provided staff with the opportunity to publicly acknowledge the contributions of our outgoing Upper Sixth students, in their final formal RGS concert. Whilst we hope they will return post exams for HartsFest, it was lovely to be able to share and celebrate all they have brought to RGS Music in their time at the school.
